VPN Instructions for Windows

The GlobalProtect Agent should be located in your system tray. See the picture below. If you don’t see the Agent, contact the DTS Help Desk at dts.utah.gov and select ‘Get Help’

If you do not have it loaded on your system please follow the installation instructions in the bottom portion of this email to have it auto installed onto your computer.

The below box should already have remote.utah.govIf it does not then type it in and click on connect.

You will then be directed to the Utah ID login window and will need to sign into your Utah ID(Not email)

To verify you are connected go back to your system tray and the GlobalProtect Icon will now have a check mark and when you hover over it with your mouse it will say connected

GlobalProtect Agent Installation

If you do not have the GlobalProtect Agent installed on your computer, please follow these steps to perform the auto installation from the Software Center.

Right click on the Windows Start Button located in the bottom left hand corner of your screen as shown below. This will open the pop-up menu as shown and you will then click on Search.

In the Search field type in the words “software center” as shown in the image below. Once it is typed in click on the Software Center app at the top of the search results. If Software Center is not found please call your helpdesk.

The Software Center App will open and will look similar to the image below. Locate the installation package named “UT – Palo Alto Global Protect.” For reference it looks like the top left install package highlighted in the image below. If it is not there please call your helpdesk.

Click on the UT – Palo Alto Global Protect icon to open the installation screen that appears below.

Click on the Install button to begin the installation of the Global Protect Agent. After it is finished the Status will change to “Installed” as shown below. It is now complete and you can close the Software Center and return to the top of this email to finish the configuration and login to your VPN connection.

MFA – Multi Factor Authentication for Global Connect VPN

In an effort to keep State of Utah data secure, you are now required to use two factor authentication when logging in the State of Utah VPN. If you need help, contact the DTS Help Desk at dts.utah.gov  and click on ‘Get Help’.

Open Global Connect and click Connect

Enter Username or Email and Password and then click SIGN IN

You will be promoted to enter a second factor. Select the second factor you wish to use. This document will show each, but you only need to select one. RSA users skip to page 5 below.
Note: In this example the user has a work mobile, alternate email and a personal mobile number on their account. You will only be prompted with the options you have on your account.

If you clicked text message, this screen appears. Enter your phone number ending with the digits shown and click continue

If you clicked email, this screen appears. Complete your alternate Email Address with the starting and ending letters shown and click continue

Retrieve the message and copy or remember the code and enter or paste here the code here and click continue.

You are now connected to VPN using 2 factor.

RSA users

After entering username/email and password this screen will appear. You will be prompted to enter your token

You are now connected to VPN using 2 factor.
