View DTS Technical Bulletin TB 450. Cisco has announced the end-of-sale and end-of-life dates for the Cisco Unified IP Phones 7915, 7942 and 7962. The last day to order the affected product(s) was February 1, 2016. Customers with active service contracts will continue to receive support from the Cisco Technical Assistance Center For customers with active and paid service and support contracts, support will be available under the terms and conditions of customers’ service contract.
Because State agencies are responsible for purchasing phones, it is imperative that affected agencies are notified/informed about Cisco’s End-of-Sale and End-of-Life announcement for Cisco’s 7915, 7942 and 7962 IP phones.
Affected agencies should contact their Division of Technology Services (DTS) Voice Solution Engineer to discuss replacement of their 7900 IP phones.
End of SW Maintenance Releases: The last date that Cisco Engineering may release any final software maintenance releases or bug fixes is 11/1/2017. Thereafter, Cisco Engineering will no longer develop, repair, maintain or test the product software of IP Phones 7915, 7942 and 7962.
Last Date of Support: The last date to receive applicable service and support for the product (IP Phones 7915, 7942 and 7962) as entitled by active service contracts or by warranty terms and conditions is 1/31/2021. Thereafter, all support services for the product (IP Phones 7915, 7942 and 7962) are unavailable; the product becomes obsolete. This does not mean that State agencies have until 1/31/2021 to replace their 7915, 7942 and 7962 IP Phones. Rather, it means that releases for the Division of Technology Services Cisco Call Manager will be designed with the 7900 IP Phones in mind until 1/31/2021. However, if there is an issue or bug with such releases, then there will be no support after 11/1/2017. Thereafter, if Call Manager releases have bugs that impact Cisco 7900 IP phones, then DTS will implement such releases to stay current with, e.g., security enhancements even if by doing so, Cisco 7900 IP phones are negatively impacted (become unsupportable).
The urgency is great that State agencies replace their Cisco 7915, 7942 and 7962 IP phones ideally before 11/1/2017. Thereafter, agencies risk non-support of their 7900 IP phones.
