Mobile Device Management (MDM) is software that helps secure and manage mobile devices used to access State Data. The Enterprise Mobile Device Policy defines and describes the acceptable use of mobile devices for all State of Utah executive branch employees. MDM was implemented in the State of Utah for the following reasons:
- To enhance security for mobile devices that access or store state data by requiring that the device be encrypted and have a password.
- To allow users to centrally manage, i.e. locate, lock, wipe, etc., their devices remotely in the event that the device is misplaced or stolen.
- To allow DTS to manage mobile assets and associated software.
State employees who access or store State information or access the State secure network with a mobile device must install the MDM software.
