How to Reset Your Password If Your Account Is Locked

If your account is locked because the password was typed incorrectly (e.g., you used the wrong case several times while typing in your password), take the following steps.

  1. Click Switch User and then select Self-Service Password Reset.

  2. Type in your username and the correct password. After about two full minutes, both UtahID and AD accounts will be unlocked without additional user intervention.

  3. Log off of the mini portal, click Switch User, select your user account, and log on.

  4. If you are still unable to log in, follow the instructions below to reset your password.

  2. Select Self-Service Password Reset.

  3. Click Forgot Password?

  4. Fill out the information requested.

    1. Enter your Utah ID username or email address.
    2. Enter your last name.

    Click Continue.

  5. Depending on what contact information you set up in your UtahID account, you may have different options regarding where/how you would like to receive a security code to proceed with resetting your password.

  6. When you select one of the contact methods, you’ll be directed to confirm the contact information. Confirm the contact information and click Continue.

  7. If you selected an email address, the security code will be sent to the email address; if you selected a phone number, the security code will be sent to the phone number via text.
