Utah Takes First Place in Digital Government Experience

The Center for Digital Government Announced Utah.Gov has been awarded first place in the Government Experience Awards. Utah.Gov services also won two additional category awards and special recognition for innovation. After 20 years of the Best of the Web Awards, the Center for Digital Government updated the competition this year to evaluate the new environment for online services. The Government Experience Awards recognize the achievements and best practices of states, cities and counties that excel at creating useful online government services and applications.

“Once again Utah has been recognized as the leader it is in providing online tools for the residents of Utah,” said Gov. Gary Herbert. “We are pleased that such a prestigious organization has chosen to award first place to Utah.”

The Center for Digital Government is a national research and advisory institute on information technology policies and sets the standard for measuring best practices in state and local government.

“We work hard to provide the very best online services for Utahns,” said Mike Hussey, Utah state Chief Information Officer. “It is very satisfying to be recognized by the Center for Digital Government.”

In addition to Utah’s First Place award Utah.Gov services won category awards for:

  • Government-to-Citizen Experience Award: Utah Hunting and Fishing Services
  • Government-to-Government Experience Award: Utah Public Meeting Notice

Utah also received special recognition by winning the Center for Digital Government Innovation Award for Predictive Government Through Google Now and Amazon Alexa.
