In support of Governor Cox’s remote work initiative, A New Workplace, state agencies have been given the opportunity to work from anywhere within the state. During 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic suddenly accelerated efforts for government agencies to work remotely. The state went from just a few agencies participating in a pilot remote work effort, to the majority of state agencies working remotely in a matter of days. The Division of Technology Services (DTS) has worked to provide guidance and meet the technology needs of state agencies to enable them to work remotely. DTS, in partnership with the Governor’s Office of Planning and Budget, spent $6 million in fiscal years 2020 and 2021 on information technology to meet the needs of state agencies’ remote work efforts.
