Governor Herbert has declared October "Cyber-Security Awareness Month" for the State of Utah.
Cyber security affects each of us at work, at home, and in our schools. By adopting simple habits at work, employees will be better equipped to protect the data in their homes as well.
A significant factor in enhancing our security capabilities starts with the users. Recent news headlines have highlighted the threats, from laptop thefts to virus damage, that affect each of us.
National Cyber-Security Awareness Month, first established in October 2004, is a collective effort to raise cyber security awareness nationwide and to empower citizens, businesses, governments, and schools to improve their cyber-security preparedness and ensure a safe Internet experience.
The State of Utah is joining the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the National Cyber Security Alliance, and the Multi-State Information Sharing and Analysis Center in support of “National Cyber-Security Awareness Month.”
2011 Cyber Security Awareness Month
The 2011 Theme is: "Cyber Security is OUR Shared Responsibility."
To celebrate the month, the EISO has put together the "Security Speaker of the Week" program, Each week's speaker is intended to help increase our understanding of the threats we face, the solutions we can use and our roles and responsibilities in building and maintaining a secure environment. Speaking events will be held twice daily every Thursday throughout the month of October. Admission to each event is free. Morning sessions will be webcast.
