Utilization of Public Meeting Notice Website Continues to Grow
April 2009
In April 2008, State Archives, working with the Department of Technology Services, launched the Public Meeting Notice Website, a service that consolidates the announcement and information of public meetings for hundreds of government entities into a single place on the web. Utilization of the site greatly expanded in October 2008, when all public bodies were required to post public meetings.
Benefits of the website include:
- Greater accessibility to public meeting information, which encourages greater participation by the public
- Central source for all public meeting information statewide
- Standardized format for publishing
- Access to past public meeting minutes
- Allows public to subscribe to public body notices and receive updates to current meetings and notification of upcoming meetings
By February 2009, agencies posted close to 2,000 meetings per month on the site. ![]()
